What is Post-Op recovery

Recovering from surgery can feel daunting—but with the right physiotherapy support, it doesn’t have to be. Whether you’ve had a joint replacement, ligament reconstruction, spinal surgery or arthroscopy, we’ll guide you every step of the way.

We work closely with your consultant’s post-op protocol to help you regain strength, flexibility, and confidence at the right pace. Early stages may focus on reducing pain, swelling, and restoring mobility, while later phases progress to rebuilding strength, balance, and function. We also offer hands-on techniques and modalities like acupuncture to support pain relief.

Our goal is to make your recovery smooth, safe, and effective—so you get back to the things you enjoy, without fear of reinjury.

We’ve helped hundreds of patients recover post-op and understand how to adapt your rehab to your lifestyle and goals. You’re not alone—and you’re in good hands.

FAQs

Frequently Asked Questions

Physiotherapy can be helpful following joint replacements, arthroscopies, ACL repairs, muscle/tendon repairs, meniscal surgery and spinal surgery.

Other surgeries (eg. abdominal, pacemaker), that have a subsequent effect on your mobility and function can often find physiotherapy beneficial to return you to doing the things you love to do.

This will depend on what the physiotherapist finds on the assessment and the type of surgery you have had but will include exercises, hands on treatment, gait re-education and advice on returning to your usual activities and sports.
